Dr. A. Gopi

Dr. A. Gopi completed his MBBS from Kempegowda Institute of Medical sciences, Bangalore. After his MBBS course he joined Bangalore Medical College and completed his MD in General Medicine. Simultaneously obtained his Diplomate of the national board (DNB) in Internal Medicine from the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi. Immediately after completing his MD he was selected for the DM cardiology course at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Trivandrum. SCTIMST is an autonomous institute of national importance. After completion of the DM course, worked as a senior registrar in cardiology at Wockhardt Hospital and Heart Institute, Cunningham Road, Bangalore. After 2 years became a consultant in the same hospital. Continued in that post for 4 ½ years and then moved to Sagar Apollo Hospital, Bangalore as a consultant interventional cardiologist. After 2 years took over as coordinator Department of cardiovascular sciences. In November 2007 shifted to Apollo Hospitals, Bangalore as a Sr. consultant- Interventional Cardiologist. In 2005 was made a Fellow of The Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, USA.

During the last 11 years of practice has done over 8000 diagnostic catheterization procedures and around 1500 interventional procedures. Areas of special interest are Primary angioplasty in Acute Myocardial Infarction (Heart Attack) and Carotid Angioplasties. Was part of the team that performed the first successful heart failure device implantation in the state and the first Combo (HFD + ICD) device in South India.
